In 2004, Richard made a move to the North West of England, drawn to the charm and beauty of Lancashire. Now settled in this vibrant county, he brings with him a piece of his heritage, capturing the essence of his roots in every hog roast in Chorley that Scrumpy Pig offers.
The name ‘Scrumpy Pig’ is inspired by Richard’s Somerset upbringing, where he spent his childhood surrounded by the traditional cider farms of this iconic landscape. Rows of apple orchards stretched across the horizon, and gatherings often included feasts with a delicious hog roast paired with local Scrumpy cider. Those vivid memories of hog roasts enjoyed in a lively, community atmosphere fueled his vision to recreate this experience for others—one that celebrates both flavours and tradition. And so, Scrumpy Pig was born, to bring the same warmth and authenticity to each hog roast in Chorley and beyond.
